An Introduction

My name is Josh. I’m 21 years old. Texas has been my home for the past 14 years. Tomorrow, however, I am taking a major leap of faith.

I’m traveling solo for the first time in my life.

I spent several months deliberating, perusing travel blogs, spending countless hours reading and researching things like packing lists and work exchanges, and weighing the pros and cons until I finally committed to it last month by purchasing a one-way ticket to Hawaii. Since then it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, from eager anticipation of the exciting adventures that lay ahead to anxiety and second thoughts about taking the plunge.

The older I get, the more I understand the truth of the “comfort zone.” I would rather stay at home, stick to what I know, live a safe life, and avoid the possible dangers associated with traveling abroad. But to miss out on all the beautiful sights, wonderful people I haven’t met yet, and invaluable experience and wisdom I would gain from putting myself out there? No way.

Reading those travel blogs and hearing about how all these ordinary people stepped out of their comfort zones to live extraordinary lives, transforming their lives in the process, has been seriously inspiring to me. Now I’m happy to finally be doing the same.

I want my life to be a journey worth sharing, and I want to share it with you.

Am I afraid? You bet. But I also couldn’t be more proud of myself for finally taking action. Not to mention I’m pretty excited too.
